Course Objective: It is well known fact that automation in a machine and similar systems decreases human interference with the system and hence the safety level is increased. However, this statement is not always true due to the fact that automation systems have become very complex as far as human interventions are concerned. Now more accidents happen during maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of the machines due to unexpected start of the machines. In India although the automation system available are comparable to those available in any other part of world, unfortunately the safety systems in India has not evolved equally to keep pace with the automation system. And still we have safety system in practice that is restricted to Personal Protective Equipment like, Helmets, Gloves, Shoes and Goggles etc. And so there is a strong need to design an Safety Control System which is fail proof, fail safe.
