Victor Olerskiy was born in Latvian SSR in 1965. As an adult, he attended St. Petersburg’s Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy, from where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Radio Engineering. This formed the foundation for Olerskiy’s career in the maritime and shipping industry, starting with his first job at the Baltic Shipping Company, where he worked as an engineer for four years. In 1991, Victor Olerskiy took a job as Head of Agent Department at AOZT Infotech Baltika, where he would progress over almost two decades, embracing roles including Deputy, Director and Commercial Director before leaving in 2009. Parallel to and following his time at AOZT, Olerskiy has served on various Boards of Directors, as a member or chairman. These include OAO North-Western Shipping Company, OAO Sovcomflot, FAU Russian River Register, and ANO Unified Transport Directorate, among others. His current board memberships are with Russian Fishery LLC and PAO Sovcomflot. Victor Olerskiy has spent many years working as the Deputy Minister of Transport for the Russian Federation, beginning in 2009. From 2016 through to 2018, he took on further responsibility as Head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport. Olerskiy’s professional achievements have been recognised with several awards over the years, including the Russian Government Certificate of Merit in 2011, the Honorary Worker of Transport Russia badge in 2012, and the Order of Honour in 2014.
